June Wine-of-the-Month:
Domaine de l’Horizon,, Côtes Catalanes IGP, Languedoc-Roussillon, 2021 (50% Macabeu /50% Grenache Gris)
Retail Price: $150
A breathtaking, biodynamic masterpiece of Mediterranean minerality, this white crafted by Thomas Teibert (of Manincor fame) in the high-altitude vineyards of Calce, Roussillon, is a profound blend of old-vine Macabeu and Grenache Gris. Vinified in large Stockinger barrels, it offers a "breathtaking achievement of pure minerality," featuring vibrant acidity with ringing notes of wet stone, citrus zest, and deep rock. The 2021 vintage provided a challenging yet ultimately rewarding growing season, resulting in a balanced, lower-alcohol wine with remarkable elegance, tension, and structural aging potential.
